Life Story for Janet Shannon

Janet (Dewar) Shannon ~ It is with regret that our family announces that after a long life filled with great joy that the Lord took our Mom, Nanny, Great Grandmother home on Thursday, July 9, 2015 in her 93rd year.

She is survived by her children Dianne Bellmore, Gloria Shannon, Val Stephen-Trumble (Bill), Geraldine Wright, Ian Shannon(Jennifer Swanson), all of Sault Ste. Marie; Peggy McLeod (George) and Larry Shannon (Marcie Harrison) of Brandon, Manitoba.

Remembered by her grandchildren, Lisa Bellmore, Michael Bellmore (Lana), Maya Lang ( BJ) Mac McLeod (Danielle), Leanne Vandenbosch (Layne), Shannon McLeod (Jason Horkoff) Noel Stephen (Stephanie), Daana Wright (Paul Cooper), Krystal Shannon, Alexandria Shannon and Rheian Shannon, and by her great-grandchildren Sarah McLeod, William and James Belmore, Kian and Harper Lang, Kyle McLeod, Margaret Vandenbosch, Giacamo and Nicco Stephen, Olivia and Ethan Cooper and Andrew Shannon.

Survived by sisters-in-law Blanche Ash of Stratford and Shirley Dennis of Harriston, and by several step-children, step-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and special friends.

Janet was predeceased by her husband of 40 years, Ralph Shannon (1981), her son Andy (1967), her brother Allan Dewar and wife Alice, sons-in-law Nelson Bellmore and Don Wright, her second spouse Edwin Cooney of 25 years; and by her brothers-in-law and sisters in law Ray Ash, Chet and Marjory Shannon, Isobel and Scotty MacLean, Verna and John Kane, and Harold Shannon

A celebration of Janet's life was held in Sault Ste. Marie on Tuesday, July 14.

There will be visitation at the Hardy-Lee Funeral Home, Harriston on Saturday, August 1 from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. with interment in Harriston Cemetery at 3:00 p.m.

A time of fellowship and memories will follow at the Harriston Royal Canadian Legion.
