Condolence: We were greatly saddened by the unexpected passing of our friend, Derrick. He was always good company and we will sorely miss him at our get-togethers. Please accept our deeply felt condolences. You, Lucille, and your family will be in our thoughts and prayers. We are especially mindful of the young grandchildren.

Condolence: Really going to miss you Derrick. You were always someone who could be easily approached. The fact that you extended your hand in friendship immediately upon meeting anyone proves your strength. You taught and inspired not only myself but countless others. To the next life Derrick.

Condolence: When I spoke with my father this afternoon he told me of Derek April's death.
I was truly saddened to hear of his passing. He was my teacher in grade 7 & he was always so kind to me when seeing him when I was across the street at my grand parents.
The very sad part of his demise is that it is close to Christmas.
I pray his family of wife & daughters,grand children & friends will find the strength in each other to handle their grief.

Condolence: My sincere condolences to the family of Mr. April ,my grade 7 and 8 teacher at Harriston Senior School. I was shocked and saddened to hear of his passing. May his memories give you strength in the days to come. Everyone , if they are lucky, has a special teacher in their past who has made a huge impact in their lives. Mr. April was that teacher for me. He taught me to love reading, never be afraid to ask questions and to find my own style (when I tried to copy his beautiful handwriting from the blackboard). He was a force, a gentle giant and a man full of grace. I just hope he knew how he touched so many of us through his teachings. My regret is that I never told him.

Condolence: My heartfelt condolences to the April family. I have fond memories at Minto Clifford Public School having him for a grade five teacher and the stories he shared with the class. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

Condolence: To the entire April family, I'm so very sorry to hear of the passing of Derrick.I had the pleasure of having him as my grade 5 teacher at Minto-Clifford. He always had a smile and stopped me on the street to catch up when I would be back home for a visit. Thinking of you all xo

Condolence: Dear Lucille and family, please know that I am thinking about you and praying for strength for all of you. I know the pain of loosing a loved one but know this..... they are never really gone. They take a different form and things will be different but they only die if we let them! Keep Derrick in your hearts and in your lives through memories and conversations. He was a wonderful man and i know he will be missed greatly.
