Life Story for Alex Henry Ivel

Alex Ivel ~ It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Alex Ivel at his home in Minto Township, on Tuesday, April 7, 2009, in his 90th year.
Left to mourn his passing is his wife of 63 years, Florence (Greer) Ivel. He will be sadly missed, but fondly remembered by his children, Leora Knapp and her husband Robert of Listowel, Linda Wilkinson and her friend Harvey Miller of Alma, and Meg Young and her husband Randy, Robert Ivel and his wife Joan, and Allan Ivel and his wife Kim, all of Harriston.

Proud grandpa of Tricia Knapp, Bryan Knapp, Janet Redmond, Trevor Wilkinson, Lauren Scott, Colin Scott, Leslie Young, Alexandra Ivel, Taylor Ivel, Jocelyn Ivel and Carson Ivel, and great-grandpa of Connor and Kayla Redmond, and Hilary and Alanna Wilkinson.

Predeceased by his sister Jean Rennie, his brother Stewart Ivel, and his parents James and Flossie Ivel.

Alex was born on the home farm in Minto Township on March 3, 1920, and had resided there all of his life. Alex took over the farm in 1950 and started the trucking business in 1955, now known as Alex H. Ivel and Sons Transport.

The family will receive relatives and friends at the Hardy-Lee Funeral Home, Harriston, on Thursday evening from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. and on Friday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held from Knox-Calvin Presbyterian Church, Harriston on Saturday, April 11th at 1:30 p.m.

Interment in Harriston Cemetery.

Memorial donations to Palmerston & District Hospital, Juvenile Diabetes Association, or a charity of one's choice would be appreciated.
