My Uncle Kurt

I was saddened recently to hear of Uncle Kurts passing. He will surely be missed deeply by those who knew him well and of course all of his family members and Christel and all of the Oelschlagel children were a huge part of my childhood years and i'd like to share some memories that have stayed with me all these years. As a child, I always looked forward to the weekends because my family would be heading up to Harriston to spend time at Uncle Kurts place. All of us kids had a blast and may have got into trouble a few times lol but overall, It was a great time in my life as a child. Uncle Kurt would say alot of Funny things and had some really humorous facial expressions. :)He was a funny, caring and considerate man in my eyes. One time, he walked by me and handed me a Dollar Bill and said Here Ya Go. Wow, was I smiling that day and off to the variety store i went to buy some candy. One memory of Uncle Kurt that will remain with me forever happened when i was 13 years old. You see, Kurt had many racing pigeons and i kind of took a liking to the idea of having a bird that you could set free and it would come back. So i decided that i would build a pigeon house in my parents back yard and have pigeons just like Uncle Kurt. With a handsaw, hammer, wood and nails,I built this Pigeon house on my own. After the house was built, Uncle Kurt gave me 4 young pigeons and a hardcover book all about pigeons. I was ecstatic! I even named one of my new pigeons KURT. The pigeons were my pets and they even mated later and had babies. I am so thankful for Kurt,Christel,Ricky,Kurtie,Barbara,Robbie and Marky as you all made my childhood years defining, memorable and unforgetable. Thank You At this time, I would also like to Express my sympathy to Christel and the entire Oelschlagel Family for the loss of a wonderful human being known to me as Uncle Kurt. I will be attending the funeral. Sincerely Chris Blume
